Abstract
The peaceful, idyllic life in the automated, mechanized and regimented city of the future is shattered when a mad inventor intentionally seeks to disrupt things.

A restored version of this classic with and extra 25 minutes of new footage previously thought lost. Fritz Lang's acclaimed vision of a 21st century city is widely held to be one of the greatest films of the silent era. In the year 2000, industrialist John Frederson rules over a giant city where the workers exist only as an underclass. They call for rebellion, but their leader Maria urges them to wait for a mediator. When Frederson kidnaps Maria and replaces her with a robot replica, the workers are incited to revolt. Many different versions of Lang's masterpiece have been distributed over the years; this one clocks in at 118 minutes and features the original Gottfried Huppertz musical score.
