Abstract
This report covers the design, construction, and post construction evaluation of an asphalt emulsion seal coat (single surface treatment) on a high volume, high speed interstate highway. A bituminous seal coat consisting of E-3 (AASHTO CRS-2) asphalt emulsion binder and bituminous precoated 1B sandstone aggregate "chips" was placed on Interstate 81. Results are presented which indicate the successful performance of this seal coat application to date.
