In recent years, there have been several important developments in the surgical management of breast diseases, such as new techniques for tumor resection, reconstructive surgery, lymph node assessment, and cosmetic surgery. Thus, perhaps more than in any other field, breast surgery has evolved into both a surgical science and an art.
