Abstract:
The death of Admiral Nelson on the Victory at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 is the basis of a well-known story. This book focuses on William Beatty, the surgeon who attended Nelson in his last hours and was later to publicize the deathbed scene. It traces his life and career as a leading naval surgeon during the Napoleonic Wars and afterwards.
