Abstract:
The eighth REACH conference organised by iSmithers and sister company Smithers RAPRA coincided with advancing deadlines for REACH Registration and the widespread concerns over the implementation of the Globally Harmonised System (GHS) in Europe. Experts have advised that lead registration dossiers should be submitted to the European Chemicals Agency by June 2010 - six months before the official deadline - to allow time for completeness checks. With so little time remaining, companies are understandably worried about how to meet these deadlines. Moreover many organisations still need clarification on how to meet their responsibilities with regard to the management of substances of very high concern (SVHCs) and the associated product declarations. American businesses must also contend with REACH triggering further chemicals policy initiatives, driving TSCA reform and bringing about a new set of obligations to fulfil. These proceedings cover all the presentations from the conference, which was developed for all industry sectors to ensure they understand the practical implications and are able to meet new regulatory demands.
