As arguably the most amorphous and creatively subjective aspect of music production, mixing is also the most challenging stage of the process for many musicians. This is largely down to the fact that it’s a highly skilled art form requiring a lot of time and effort to become proficient at, of course, but also because there’s a lot of myth and mystique surrounding this particular area of audio engineering that can be deeply intimidating for the novice and even somewhat off-putting to more experienced hands.
