Abstract:
This report defines the concept of a multi-state Intelligent Vehicle-Highway Systems (IVHS) coordination program known as the ENTERPRISE program. ENTERPRISE (Evaluating New Technologies for Roads Program Initiatives in Safety and Efficiency) is a proposal for a joint public-private sector program to research, develop and demonstrate selected IVHS technologies. This report identifies the needs, goals and objectives of ENTERPRISE and identifies why ENTERPRISE, as a consortium of interests, offers improved opportunities for IVHS research, development, testing, and implementation. The report identifies likely project participants and summarizes the potential roles of both the public and the private sector.
