Abstract:
Collection of selected, peer reviewed papers from the 5th Regional Conference on Materials Engineering and the 5th Regional Conference on Natural Resources and Materials 2013 (RCM5 & RCNRM5 2013), January 22-23, 2013, Malaysia. The 43 papers are grouped as follows: Chapter 1: Materials Engineering; Chapter 2: Mineral Resources Engineering. Though the conferences emphasize similarities and cross-links between the two closely related fields of engineering, the 43 papers are presented in sections on materials engineering and mineral resource engineering. The topics include the effect of a cleaning agent on tensile and swelling properties of natural rubber latex film, effects of silicon dioxide nanoparticles on the dielectric characteristics of aloe vera paste, porous ceramic bodies using banana stem waste as a pore-forming agent, assessing the carbothermal reduction of Malaysian ilmenite by statistical design, characterization and gold-assaying methods in assessing low-grade gold ore from Malaysia, and modeling and simulating air classification in cement manufacture. - Environmental Engineering. - Materials Engineering. - Mining -- Minerals.
