Abstract:
This guide aims to facilitate metric conversion for State transportation departments and agencies and others involved in geotechnical engineering. The guidelines begin with a discussion about basic SI building blocks, and build on this foundation in a logical progression that culminates with proper SI correspondence "grammar". The document covers a full range of geotechnical usages, including physical properties of soil, mechanical properties of soil, properties related to fluids, in-situ tests, practical problems and properties related to geosynthetics.
