Abstract:
Inverse Problems in Electric Circuits and Electromagnetics discusses methods of solution of so-called inverse problems that are often encountered in electrical engineering, electronics and electrophysics. The objective of inverse problems’ solution is to assure that the manufacturing of devices are optimal by specified criteria. Approaches stated in the book show ways of making devices that ensure best electromagnetic performance, minimal weight and thermal emission. These approaches can be applied for modernization of existing devices as well as to improve their technical features or to extend their operational life. This text treats important new methods in inverse problems in electromagnetics. The inverse problems such as synthesis, diagnostics, fault detection, and identification are becoming one of the most important subjects in the field because of the significant practical applications to electric circuits and electromagnetics. This book introduces the recent achievements in mathematics and computing, while focusing on an approach to inverse problems that provides numerical solutions. The text systematically supplies descriptions of the most important practical inverse problems and the methods to solve them, thereby providing the reader with the best application for these intuitive processes. Also included are descriptions of the properties of inverse problems and known methods of their solution as well as the practical implementation of these methods in electric circuits theory and electromagnetic field theory. Basic attention is given to clarity and simplicity. This book is comprehensible enough for students that have taken a course in electrical engineering or in electronics. All approaches and methods of solution of inverse problems are supplied by numerous examples. These examples are educational, in addition to existing as solid examples for engineering problems important for practice. The authors have planned this book for students of electrotechnics, electronics, electrophysics and other specialties who are training for practical work, as well as for specialists already working in the field.
