Abstract:
A Troxler 4640 thin layer nuclear gage was evaluated under field conditions to determine if it would provide improved accuracy of density measurements on asphalt overlays of 1-3/4 and 2 inches in thickness. Statistical analysis shows slightly improved accuracy resulting from the use of the Troxler 4640 gage compared to conventional gages.
