Abstract:
This asphalt concrete recycling project, the first attempt by the Washington State Department of Transportation, seems so far to be very successful. The project looks good from a standpoint of economy, energy use, conservation of natural resources, feasibility of construction, and from an evaluation of the test data obtained to date. Certain pitfalls seem to exist when using this type of a recycling process, such as selection of the proper rejuvenator, degrading of the aggregates, pollution, proper amounts of new aggregate, and other minor problems.
