Abstract:
Recent research indicates that environmental factors other than ambient air temperature have appreciable influence on how rapidly bituminous mixtures cool. This research also implies that when these other factors are taken into account it may be possible to satisfactorily perform the needed compactive work at much lower ambient air temperatures than allowed by many current specifications.
