This report presents the recommendations of the WHO Expert Committee responsible for updating the WHO Model List of Essential Medicines. The first part provides a brief description of the Open Session of the Committee, followed by updates on the Model Formulary and the Essential Medicines Library, the Priority Medicines Project and current activities in the field of rational use. There are also progress reports on the review of essential medicines for reproductive health and of the New Emergency Health Kit.
