Abstract:
Examines the confluence of political theory, strategic theory, and international relations theory. The author's essential argument is that embedded in more than two thousand years of strategic history is the premise that strategy is as much a realm for thought as action, exposed to both pragmatic realism and inspired idealism. The author presents a philosophical exploration of the West as an emergent state of mind, and the underlying visions of the realist order that paved the way for the ideals of ancient Athens to be realized two millennia after first being expressed.
