Abstract:
Ferns of Minnesota was first published in 1954 as The Ferns and Fern Allies of Minnesota and was reissued under the present title in 1980. Ferns thrive in a cool, moist climate, and they are the most abundant plants of the ground cover in many parts of Minnesota and surrounding regions. Their varied and beautiful fronds attract the attention of both gardeners and students of plant life, who will welcome the reappearance of this book. Ferns of Minnesota is the second edition, revised, of The Ferns and Fern Allies of Minnesota, published by the University of Minnesota Press in 1954. A comprehensive guide for the identification of ferns and fern allies, the book also includes information on the habitats favored by various species, with a distribution map for each. In addition to line drawings of the species, there are photographs of ferns in their natural habitats and an illustrated glossary.
