When a pretty Parisienne woman named Georgette declines his offer of marriage, American tourist Oliver Hardy decides to throw himself in the Seine-- a trip in which his pal Stan Laurel isn't eager to join him. François suggests that the boys join the Foreign Legion so Ollie can forget, but life in the Legion is harder than they expected, especially when they learn that François is Georgette's husband. After trying to desert, they're condemned to face a firing squad, and their only hope of escape is a plane that neither of them knows how to fly.
