Abstract:
The Third Edition of this comprehensive reference has been overhauled, with 28 of 50 chapters either completely updated or rewritten by new authors. This reflects the fact that this treatment modality is now the standard of care for a variety of cancers, including 10-20,000 cases/year of various forms of leukemia, multiple myeloma, Hodgkin's disease, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, lung cancer, ovarian cancer, etc. High dosage chemotherapy is now also used in advanced cases of breast cancer. It is now being done by private practitioners in most of the hospitals in the country from the community hospital on up.
