Abstract:
RAMCAP(SM) stands for Risk Analysis and Management for Critical Asset Protection. This publication provides an understanding of the RAMCAP Plus(SM) process as applied to a broad array of critical infrastructures, ranging from industrial facilities (e.g., water systems) to college campuses. The approach includes protection (avoiding hazardous events or their consequences), and resilience (rapid return to full function after those events that occur). By using common definitions, threats, metrics and methods to directly compare risk, resilience, and risk management benefits, decision-makers can better allocate limited resources - whether to individual assets and facilities or whole industries and sectors of the economy. The RAMCAP Plus process is being developed as an American National Standard.
